Tom’s Story

Know Thyself Charitable Trust is the legacy of Tom Vaughan whose home, school and college years were spent in Winchester before his University years in Bristol.

A successful career with La Fosse in London led to his establishing La Fosse LA in California. After three years Tom was headhunted by Mr and Mrs Smith to be the Managing Director for America.

Tragically at the age of 34, Tom drowned in the sea off Santa Monica beach. There were no drugs, no overdose and he was not suicidal, his death was an accident triggered by stress and anxiety.

Tom’s death was an enormous shock to all who knew him. He was much loved, very successful and an inspirational networker. Positive, fun loving and everyone’s friend, and then life changed… he took on too much, felt stressed, could not talk about his inner feelings and anxiety took hold.

A few weeks before his death he set up a company called Know Thyself… the purpose of which was to help mankind.

Out of this tragedy we have established the Know Thyself Charitable Trust, its purpose being to fundraise for charities and organisations that help support mental health in the workplace.
